 After some work on the housing there's now some resemblance with the prototype

 A rather 'ugly' start for TM #700 / 701

A shortened AristoCraft box car, two trucks of an AC industrial switcher and a leading axle from a Bachmann big Hauler

Texas Mexican diesels #700 & #701

 Probably a rather obscure type of diesel locomotive from 1946 / 47 with a 1-D -wheel arrangement and a slightly rounded front (home-built by TM's shops). I intend to use a B-B set from an old Aristocraft industrial switcher. It has the appropiate wheel base as well as the wheels' diameter. Additionally it probably will negotiate curves and any tracks' irregularity much better than the prototype. The bogies will be hidden behind the outside the locomotive's 'cast' frame

TM #700

 I'm not quite sure whether I'll build the 700 'B-unit' (D-wheel arrangement) as well or use the second AC switcher for the earlier TM 500 (square front, a 'real' boxcab by Whitcomb with a D-wheel arrangement only)
